AAYA ADVENTURES

I Tried Every Workout Class in New York So You Don't Have to. Here are My Top 5...

Aaya Anan

New York City has many fitness classes and I was committed to trying them all. Well, most of them. Here are the top 5 that in my opinion, are the ones worth going to.

5. [solidcore]

Prepare yourself for a pilates experience like no other. Now, let me tell you, this class pushed me to the absolute limit. I'm talking legs shaking uncontrollably, soreness lingering for an entire week kind of intensity. This was my first pilates class I have ever done, and I am not sure why but I thought pilates would be similar to yoga. It definitely wasn't. But you know what they say, no pain, no gain. If you were to do this class consistently I have no doubt you would get abs fast. A single class costs about $42.

4. CycleBar

Picture this: a cycling workout class that exudes an ambiance like no other. CycleBar is where it's at! I honestly think it's better than Soul Cycle. The instructors are really good, and the energy in the room is electric. A single class is $35 but your first class if free.

3. Rise Nation

Alright, let me tell you about Rise Nation. It's a climbing workout class that deserves way more attention than it gets. I don't know why it's not as popular as some other classes because it definitely should be. This workout lasts only 30 minutes, but let me tell you, it's one of the best half-hours you'll ever spend. By the end of it, I was dripping sweat. The beauty of Rise Nation lies in its ability to engage all major muscle groups simultaneously, delivering a full-body, high-intensity, and low-impact workout. Talk about efficiency! A single class is $30.

2. Rumble

Rumble is the cardio boxing class you won't want to miss. Priced at just $29 per class, it's a steal. This class combines weights, floor exercises, and boxing routines, creating an exhilarating and dynamic workout. But you know what made it even more extraordinary? The instructor (Shoutout to Bobbie Jo at the Rumble location in NoHo). They were hands down one of the best I've ever encountered in a workout class. Their infectious energy and expertise made the whole experience nothing short of amazing. Plus, there's something truly liberating about channeling your stress and anger into the boxing bag.

1. Barry's

The champion of all workouts: Barry's. Trust me when I say, this class took the crown for the best workout of my life. It's a fusion of weights and cardio that will leave you breathless—in the best way possible. Now, I'm not usually a weights person, but this class had me hooked. I do really like running though so it is no surprise the running was my favorite part. I got a runner's high during the class and it felt amazing. Even my friends who aren't keen on running admitted they loved it at Barry's. What's more, the crowd at Barry's is next-level. You can sense the dedication and expertise in the room, which in turn fueled my motivation. A single class is $40.
